"January 26 has always been about the relaxed Aussie lifestyle and this is simply our way of providing something for people to enjoy in anticipation of the fireworks,"
Cicerello's owner, Henry Liascos , said.
Cicerello's is the place to be this Australia Day with a host of free family-friendly entertainment leading up to the annual fireworks over Bathers Beach.
Organised by Cicerello's and the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour Committee, the
Freo Grasshoppers and
HypnoCats will help get people in the mood at Mews Park – the grassed area next to the restaurant.
HypnoCats kick things off at 5.30pm with funk, rock, soul and pop grooves and three lead singers offering a unique harmony of sounds, providing a repertoire that ranges from 70s classics to the music of today.
The
Freo Grasshoppers get into the swing of things at 6.30pm, delivering a mix of rock, reggae, funk and blues, and performing again after the fireworks at 8.30pm.
The vibrant four-piece performs music from the past five decades and even throw in several of their own critically-acclaimed tunes.
With appearances on ABC's Stateline and more than 600 copies of their album
I Guess I'm Back Home sold, the band will release their latest single
Pipeline Thinking at the end of the month.
Singer-songwriter Silva Dee said people would get a chance to hear it on Australia Day.
"The band is really humming at the moment – we have some very experienced and dedicated musicians involved and produce quite a different style.
Cicerello's owner Henry Liascos said the added entertainment made the area come alive, attracting people from near and far keen to enjoy Australia Day.
"It's always good to have homegrown talent on hand playing to an enthusiastic crowd and the best fish and chips and seafood are just a stone's throw away.
"It gives both Cicerello's and the surrounding Fishing Boat Harbour area a real vibrancy and energy.
"I'm always pleased when there's so much colour and entertainment on offer for people visiting Cicerello's, helping to make their dining experience more of an adventure and a complete evening out."
Following this, the cities of Fremantle and Cockburn will team up for the jointly-hosted Indian Ocean Skyshow, which will kick off at 8.00 pm.
Mews Road and Warden Lane will be closed from 7pm to 9pm.
