Located between the Kings Domain and Royal Botanic Gardens is Government House. Built in 1876, it is one of Victoria's major cultural and historic assets and one of the finest examples of 19th century residential architecture in Australia. As part of the Australia Day celebrations, the Governor of Victoria welcomes the public to visit the house and its extensive gardens. You and your family can walk the grounds during the Government House Open Day and enjoy live music, picnic and scones from the Country Women's Association. You can also view the State Landau (State Coach) on loan from Melbourne Museum and retired champion racehorses in the historic 19th century Hopetoun Stables.

I do the Dockland and at king domain every year for the past 4 years and I supply 10 flavoured artisan gourmet pies. We are voted melbourne top 10 by the age. This year the event has been handed out to greedy selfish corporations that will put all their own trucks and profit from all points of difference. So no Humble PIE FOR AUSTRALIANS ON AUSTRALIA DAY ! It's a Discrace I say and needs to change its focus.
