Australia Day at Garrison Point
Once again, the start of a new year also brings along with it all the great national public holidays you'd expect. Australia Day for 2013 isn't too far away.

There are plenty of things to do and see in Sydney CBD, I even wrote about it here. But what if you can't make it to the city, you ask?

[ADVERT]Garrison Point in Sydney's inner western suburbs is once again the home to Bankstown Council hosting their Australia Day celebrations. They have been doing so for the last 25 years, so you'd expect they know a thing or two about celebrating Australia Day.

Everything on the night will be absolutely free, and that includes amusement rides for all ages, Australian displays, food stalls and plenty of action for the little ones with fun-filled kids corners, facepainting and magic shows.

So let's see what is on the agenda on the performances for the night, shall we?

Fun with Franky (4pm)

The festivities kick off officially from 4pm with an appearance from Franky, a children's entertainer who has been in the business for the last 8 years.

You can read his entire biography here.

Bankstown Talent Advancement Program (TAP) (4:50pm)

At 4:50pm, the Bankstown Talent Advancement Program vocalists will be performing.

The TAP is a community project of Bankstown City Council whose primary goal was to identify, nurture and promote local talent within local schools. The students take part in a series of workshops where experienced coaches and mentors help them develop and strengthen their performance and vocal techniques.

Kookies N Kream (5:40pm)

The dance crew Kookies N Kream have been performing and competing in the dance industry since 2010 and have since won countless dance titles.

But what is perhaps more recently known is that the crew were finalists on Australia's Got Talent for 2012. The crew will be making an appearance and performing at this years Australia Day celebrations at Garrison Point starting from 5:40pm on the evening.

Marvin Priest (5:55pm)

This year's celebrations for Australia Day will include the British born, Australian based singer-songwriter, Marvin Priest.

He is perhaps more well known for his breakthrough debut album in 2011 with Beats & Blips.

Enormous Horns (6:30pm)

The Enormous Horns are a fun party band with a decade of experience performing in hotels and clubs, functions, weddings and outdoor festivals.

They are a ten piece all singing, all dancing party band that covers a little Elvis Presley, KC and the Sunshine Band and more. They will be playing at this year's Australia Day celebrations from 6:30pm onwards.

Shannon Noll (7:45pm)

Shannon Noll was a finalist and runner up in the very first Australian Idol and quickly went on to sign a deal with Sony BMG and released five top 10 albums.

I'll admit I am a fan of Shannon Noll and I personally will be welcoming his earlier songs to the stage.

Torch Fireworks Finale

If there is one thing you cannot miss at this year's Australia Day celebrations at Garrison Point it is the fireworks finale, right over the water, the views are spectacular.

This year again sponsored by The Torch who always do such an amazing job that the fireworks will be sure to go off with a bang, in a good way!
