Australia Day is a time we all come together as a community to celebrate all things we have in common. It's a day of celebrations and entertainment that's choc-full with activities. Held at Dandenong Park, Pultney St (corner Pultney and Foster Streets), Dandenong on Sunday 26 January 2020 from 3pm to 9.30pm, this is a significant celebration for the Greater Dandenong Community with over 11,000 local residents expected to attend.
With residents from more than 150 different nations, it's a day that means something different to everyone. Being mindful it's a difficult day for some members of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island community, the Council is respectful of that and sees the day as a chance to celebrate what connects us. A celebration of our similarities and our differences. This event will include the traditional Welcome to Country and a sacred Smoking Ceremony.
The FReeZA Youth Stage will host a variety of live performances from singers, DJ and dance crews, plus a whole lot more. The FReeZA Committee will also be offering free airbrush tattoos. The Main Stage (Youth Stage) will run from 4.30pm to 6.30pm while the Busker Stage (Youth Stage) will run from 7-8.40pm. The stage will be showcasing many talents to celebrate the communities that have made multicultural Australia.
This year, instead of a ball pit, there'll be a sand play area for children without the worry of the ocean, as well as amazing sand sculptures. Get the sand buckets ready and build some sandcastles together. A free and fun day for the whole family, come along and celebrate all things Australian.
