The Georges River Council's Australia Day Festival is widely regarded as one of the best events in Sydney and has been a staple for the locals and visitors for over 25 years. Held at Carss Bush Park, Carwar Ave, Carss Park on Sunday 26 Jan 2020 from 12pm to 9pm, the event will commence with a Welcome to Country at 2pm, followed by a Citizenship Ceremony and Councils Australia Day Award winners. Entertainment will commence from 3.30pm and includes a mix of live music, cultural performances, children's activities and market stallholders.
Children can look forward to a visit from Bananas in Pyjamas and get active on the inflatable obstacle course. Adults are in for a treat with a legendary Australian musician headlining in the form of Russell Morris, winner of the Best Blues and Roots Album at the 2016 ARIA Awards. Embedding "Oo-mow-ma-mow-mow, Oo-mow-ma-mow-mow…" in our brain back in 1969 from the classic psychedelic single The Real Thing, don't miss this legend! With more entertainment on stage, on the ground you have a range of food and craft stalls, concluding with an always impressive fireworks display over Kogarah Bay.
