Australia Day Ferrython 2015

I am always looking out for new experiences, wherever I may find myself.
Probably one of the grandest Australia Day celebrations, the annual Ferrython in Sydney Harbour will run again in 2015, just as it has for 37 years.

The event will start at 11.00am, when ferries will set out from Circular Quay, head over to Shark Island and back, and go on to finish at the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

To see the action, you need to get out on a boat or find a spot along the shore where you get a great view (Dawes Point Park sounds like it's in the perfect location).

The event isn't only about finishing first across the finish line however; there's also a best-dressed award. This means ferries don streamers, flags and more, creating an even more impressive spectacle.

The ferrython is a celebration of Sydney's love for its harbour and commuter ferries, which have been operating since 1861. Back then, fewer than 1,000 people lived on the North Shore, but that number is now 200 000.

The event is also one of many that make up the Sydney Festival.
