Celebrate Australia Day
Australia Day is celebrated every year on the 26th of January, and every year Perth suburbs produce fantastic fireworks displays and free family entertainment. If you're looking for something to do on Australia Day, check out a few of these events.
This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the City of Perth Australia Day Skyworks. Held on the Swan River foreshore, the fireworks start at 8pm, but during the day there will be loads of free activities and entertainment for the whole family at the Entertainment Zone in Langley Park.
The City of South Perth has a whole day of fantastic entertainment planned, at Sir James Mitchell Park in South Perth. The day starts off at 8am with an Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony, followed by a Great Aussie Breakfast at 9.30am, and a free movie screening of Storm Boy at 11am.
Visit the Celebration Zone, in Sir James Mitchell Park, between 1pm and 7.30pm for loads of fun, free family activities and entertainment. This year the Celebration Zone plans to cater for all ages with six different activity areas, and plenty of entertainment including kids theatre, roving entertainment, a sports area, a kids and toddler area, loads of live music on the stage, and much, much more.
The City of Fremantle and the City of Cockburn will once again join together to present the annual Indian Ocean SkyShow. This is always a popular event with families and a fantastic Australia Day event.
The City of Cockburn will also host the annual Aussie Day BBQ Brekky, at the Coogee Beach Reserve between 7am and 11am.
The Town of Bassendean is holding their 10th annual Australia Day Concert Fireworks celebrations. This hugely popular event will be held at Ashfield Reserve in Ashfield from 5.00 to 9.00pm.
The City of Armadale will be holding a spectacular fireworks display in Minnawarra Park. Come along between 5.30pm and 10pm for plenty of free entertainment before the fireworks start with children's activities, live entertainment, food stalls and much more.
The Town of Cottesloe, Town of Mosman Park and Shire of Peppermint Grove will join together to host a combined Australia Day Event. This community event will be held in the grounds of the Cottesloe Civic Centre, commencing at 8am, and will include citizenship ceremonies, presentation of the Australia Day Awards and a free community barbecue breakfast.
