What better way to spend Australia Day than celebrating by the beautiful waters of Moreton Bay? Local residents will be spoiled for choice, as the region prepares for a hive of activities and community events.

Australia Day in Scarborough

Pack a picnic blanket and bring the family for a fun-filled day at the beach. This free community event will feature a selection of children's activities, multiple food trucks and live stage entertainment. The evening will culminate with a fireworks spectacular at 8pm.

Australia Day at Sandstone Point Hotel

This event is not to be missed, with an impressive 50m water slide for all ages to enjoy. Guests are encouraged to bring their own inflatables or simply "slip'n'slide" the afternoon away. Other festivities include live music, lamington eating competitions and an Aussie lamb BBQ.

Free entry, bookings are not required.

Australia Day, Family Fun Day

This event will commence with the inaugural Suttons Beach Pavilion Swim, offering swimming races for all ages and abilities (including a family inflatables race). Further race details, including pricing and registration, can be found here .

Rock painting, animal farm and face painting can be enjoyed for a small fee, raising funds for non-for-profit Florence C&K Kindi in Margate.

Settle in for an afternoon of live entertainment and a meal at the restaurant or cafe. Alternatively, order from the onsite fish and chippery and enjoy takeaways along the beach.

Australia Day on Bribie Island

Relax by the water, watch the children play and enjoy various beach activities. The event will also feature a mechanical surfboard ride, multiple food trucks, live entertainment and a fireworks finale.
