Picture this: it's Australia Day and you haven't got any plans. Horrific, isn't it? Well luckily for you, Coolum is throwing a party as Australian as they come and you're invited.

Be honest, there's nothing more Aussie than the beach and Coolum has one of the best on the Sunshine Coast. The Lions Club of Coolum Beach celebrations at Tickle Park attract thousands of revellers each year. Coolum is always popular with the tourists and a day like Australia Day never disappoints.

The morning is jam packed. The day begins at 7am with the Lioness Breakfast in the Park and the opening of market stalls. By 8am, amusement rides will be up and running. The Coolum Beach Surf Life Saving Club fun run starts at 9.20am for those looking to build up a sweat, followed by the Bendigo Bank Grand Parade at 10am. Be sure to look to the sky about 10.30am, because the Ramblers Skydivers will be hosting a display.

If you're looking for something dinki-di Aussie, hold your horses until 11am. Because the Gone Bonkers Junior Thong Throwing Competition will be on then, and again at 1pm. The North Shore Realty Cane Toad Race starts at 3pm, and the Coolum Beach Hardware Tug of War heats start at 4.30, culminating in the finals at 6pm. Hope you've been practicing.

The official part of the day will be on about 12.20pm with the announcement of the Coolum volunteer and citizen of the year awards. And finally, to top off what's sure to be an amazing day, make sure you've got prime positioning for the Nitro Drilling Monster Fireworks Display at 7.30pm. Hope they've got plenty of green and gold!
