Australia Day is one of Australia’s gazetted public holidays, and often it means a long weekend at the end of the January school holidays, and the closing days of summer before school and work throw us back into the routine of life. If you’re interested in doing something to see the holidays out on the Central Coast, there will be a free community event in Gosford at the Leagues Club Park on Friday, the 26th of January 2024 at Leagues Club Park from 4pm until 9pm.

Come along and enjoy live music, food stalls, a wide range of activities for all ages, and fireworks at 9pm.

Activities on offer include a mini fire truck, a soft-play area for toddlers, giant games on the lawn for all ages, and sports games from 4.30pm until 6.30pm. There will also be live entertainment throughout the evening, starting at 4pm, and the line up is:

4.00pm - Sybella
4.30pm - Jump
5.20pm - The Ritzy Kids
6.15pm - Smrt Casual
7.15pm - Bermuda Social
8.15pm - Bermuda Social
9.00pm - Fireworks

There are a few things to keep in mind about this event, such as road closures. On the day of the event, the following closures will affect the area:

• Georgiana Terrace, between Dane Drive and Baker Street will be closed from 11am to Close of Event
• Baker Street, between Georgiana Terrace and Vaughan Ave will be closed from 6am to Close of Event
• Vaughan Avenue will be closed to through traffic from 6am to Close of Event
• Brian McGowan Bridge A 40km/h speed reduction will be in place on Brian McGowan Bridge from 8:30pm to 9:30pm

If you need accessible parking, you can find it in the multi-storey carpark and Baker Street, and you will be able to find accessible toilets, sealed pathways, a water fountain and public transport points within 500 metres, and the event will also be assistance animal friendly.

This is an all-age, family-friendly event filled with entertainment, stalls, activities, and fireworks, giving the community a chance to come together and enjoy a picnic with family and friends, and have a good time in a safe environment. As always with outdoor events, remember to be sun safe and slip, slop, slap, and seek out shade and slide on your sunnies! With the day predicted to be very hot, make sure you drink lots of water as well, and hopefully, the heat will have dispersed by the time the event starts.
