Liverpool City Council is celebrating Australia Day 2016 with a FREE festival in Woodward Park!From 1pm, all are invited to come along and enjoy a spectacular line-up of entertainment headlined by R&B superstar Paulini.The programme of events, caters to all tastes with performances by the Reel Matilda Bush Band, inspirational artist Matteo Charles and the Hoot and Hootabelle Show to delight the children.There will also be roaming entertainment, rides, food stalls and a firework spectacular to close a day of colourful entertainment on Australia's national day of celebration."Australia Day is a wonderful opportunity for the community to unite in celebration of this great country that we call home," Mayor Ned Mannoun said."It's a day to remember our history and indigenous heritage and celebrate the many fantastic things we love about Australia."The theme of this Australia Day is 'Everyone, Everywhere', so we want to connect with Australians from all walks of life. We're encouraging people to go online and share their experiences of being an Australian by using the hashtag #AusDay."Mayor Mannoun said this year's line-up of entertainment on Australia Day would maintain the high standards sent by Liverpool Council at previous celebrations."Liverpool is known for putting on fantastic shows for Australia Day and this year is no exception. We're proud to present a headline performer like longtime favourite Paulini."I'm also looking forward to seeing Matteo Charles. He creates intriguing portraits that come to life in just minutes on stage."Mayor Mannoun said there would be a dedicated Kids Stage to entertain the children."The highlight is a special appearance by Hoot and Hootabelle who will get the children singing and dancing."The night will close with a spectacular firework show that will light up the Liverpool sky."Liverpool has one of the most diverse populations in Australia and together we're making the South West one of the most desirable places to live as well as one of the fastest growing regions in NSW.Mayor Mannoun said Citizenship and Australia Day awards and Order of Liverpool awards would also be presented in Woodward Park during the celebrations.This is our biggest event of the year so I'm encouraging the whole community to come to Woodward Park on January 26 to join the fun," he said.For more information on the event programme, please visit www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au.
