Pack a hamper and celebrate this Australia Day in style at the Caloundra Picnic Races. On Saturday 26th January, the Sunshine Coast Turf Club will be hosting this inaugural family-friendly event at the Corbould Park Race Course.

The racing is sure to be exciting as it forms part of the prestigious Sunshine Coast Cup, Queensland's main metropolitan eight race weekend feature. This will ensure that the best horses, jockeys and trainers will be present to compete for the $495,000 total pot of prize money.

Bring your own picnic blanket and food hamper to spread out on the turf club lawns, where there will be shade umbrellas available. There will plenty of family entertainment to enjoy, with free kids rides and activities such as pony rides and face painting as well as music. Entry is $15 for adults, $10 for concessions and under 18s free, with no bookings required. If you're feeling lazy, you can order a picnic hamper from the Turf Club if you get your order in no later than 22nd January. The hampers cost $35 with provisions for two adults and two children.

For those preferring a sit down lunch and a bar, try the Australia Day Hobnobber's Luncheon in the Champagne Garden (pre-booking essential). It's located right on the finishing line, so you're guaranteed to get a great view of the races. Lunch is $70 per person including entry, a three course sit down meal and drinks.

Gates open at 10am with the first race at 12.20pm and the last race at 5pm. Contact the Sunshine Coast Turf Club or Caloundra Chamber of Commerce for more details or tickets.
