Celebrate Straya Day with food, fireworks, music on Bribie
If you're up for a long day out in the sun this Australia Day, a trip to Bribie Island in and around Brennan and Apex parks may be on the cards for you.
Celebrations on Thursday January 26 begin with a free breakfast from 7:30am, thanks to the Bribie Island Lions, Sandstone Point Lions, and Cornetts Supa IGA. You don't have to be a local to attend - everyone is invited! It's an Australia Day tradition for Bribie.

If your teeth aren't too sensitive then perhaps you'll be up for the ice cream eating contest being hosted by Scoopy's Family Cafe. Registrations open at 8:00am on the day with competition getting underway from 10:00am in front of the store at 2 Toorbul Street - opposite Brennan Park. Just be careful to pace yourself or you'll end up with dreaded brain freeze.

If you don't totally bake yourself in the sun throughout the day you may feel in the mood to stick around for the fireworks at the end of the night, starting at 7:30pm. Make sure you grab a good spot nice and early if you can - a good idea is to set up a picnic blanket and have one person guarding it at all times.
