This Australia Day, Darling Harbour is celebrating the nation's day with a free family-friendly event that is sure to keep the kids well-entertained for hours.

The day is packed with many activities and live entertainments for both adults and children. It is certainly a celebration not to miss.


The day begins at 9am with the Australia Day MS Colour Dash at the Chinese Garden Forecourt. You can walk, hop, skip or run the 5 kilometres to raise funds for Australians living with Multiple Sclerosis. This is for all ages and for all fitness levels, you just need to be there and be ready to enjoy yourself at your own pace. The day is then followed on by several different activities, acts, entertainment and of course is complete with a spectacular show of fireworks at 8:45pm.

There will be clown and magic shows, sing-a-long and drum-a-long entertainments, Indigenous performers, plenty of live music to dance and sing to, the ABC Exhibition Trailer, Floating Football- The Big Issue Football Festival. There are also food and drinks venues, the Village Green at Darling Quarter to keep the kids entertained with Playschool favourite Luke Carroll and plenty of kids activities and performance acts- all surrounded by the stunning harbour views.


It is recommended for families to arrive early to nab the best viewing spots along Darling Harbour's foreshore.

The event is a glass-free zone and strictly no BYO alcohol will be permitted, so do keep this in mind when bringing your own drinks and food.

There will be road closures, so it is recommended to use public transport (check the 131500 website for transport information and Live Traffic website for more information on road closures and traffic.

It is an event where everybody is invited and it is free too. So be sure to attend this Australia Day in Darling Harbour with the biggest community festival in NSW.
