Prahran's new favourite tapas spot
Lovers of shared tapas dishes, get out your forks and head to the iconic Prahran venue, the Mount Erica Hotel as two new dining hot spots have opened as part of the venue's new refurbishment. Austin's restaurant and Austin's Pantry & Wine Bar are now serving up Spanish and Mediterranean style cuisine from chef Sunny Gilbert of MoVida Next Door and Orange. Austin's, named after Sunny's son, has made it a priority to use locally sourced and seasonal produce delivered each day.

Partnering up with long-time colleague Ross Murray, also from MoVida Next Door and Jamie Oliver Italian Kitchen, the new look Mount Erica has been transformed into a relaxed and casual spot to have a drink and share some great grub with friends.

The fresh new look inside means it's just the right ambiance for a relaxed evening drink or weekend catch up with family or friends.Everything from the house baked bread (so fresh and delish!) to the variety of tapas, shared plates and daily specials are designed to accompany the well selected wine and drinks list sourced from both local suppliers as well as a selection from some of Sunny's favourite suppliers in Europe.

While the menu tilts to the seafood lover, there's also plenty of delicious salads to share like the beetroot and goats curd salad. Image:The Ideas Library

Seafood lovers especially are going to enjoy the heavy on the seafood menu with classic Spanish influenced dishes like pan fried calamari, sardines, seared king prawns, and more.

Already popular with locals is Austin's Pantry & Wine Bar, the venue's delicatessen which offers a selection of cheeses, charcuterie, conserves and freshly baked bread. You'll also find plenty of great coffee, and takeaway boutique wine and beer at the ready.

Fabulous for a date night or just relaxing with friends, rumour has it that the premises will continue to evolve and there are plenty of speciality dining events scheduled over the next few months so make sure to follow them on Facebook to stay up to date with upcoming events and specials.
