So you're wondering what Australia is really like? Let me try to give you a glimpse:Do Aussies really say "G'Day" a lot? Yes.Do Aussies really say, "No worries" a lot? Yes.Do Aussies really say, "Mate" a lot? Yes.

Do Aussies really throw another shrimp on the barbie? No. But... they do throw another PRAWN on the barbie. Good ol' Paul Hogan was directed to use the word "shrimp" in an Australian Tourism campaign geared towards Americans.

Do Aussies really surf all the time, even before work? Well, Australia's a big country; yes, many do, on the coasts where they have waves (not in Melbourne).Do they really have sharks and crocodiles in Australia? Yes.



Do they really play Aussie Rules football in Australia? Yes. They have some rules, but it doesn't seem like it compared to American or Canadian football, or even rugby.

Do they all walk around in thongs (flip flops) and singlets (tank tops) all day? Well, Australia's a big country; yes, many do in the hotter regions. And many wear no shoes at all. 'No shirt, no shoes, no worries'... but the major cities are huge (Sydney: 5 million; Melbourne: 4 million, Brisbane: 2.5 million, Perth 2 million, Adelaide 1.5 million) and have a thriving formal business culture as well as a world-renowned fashion culture.



Do Aussies really like vegemite? Yes. The kids even bring vegemite sandwiches to school, often with a bit of butter and cheese.

Do Aussies play cricket on the beach? Yes.Do kangaroos run wild? Yes. Think of them like deer in Canada.Do Aussies eat kangaroos? Yes. Think of them like deer in Canada.Does Australia really have big scary spiders? Yes. Think of them like bears in Canada.

Do Aussies welcome visitors? Yes. Australia has a thriving and friendly tourism industry and casual culture that welcomes the world.Is Australia amazing? You betta' believe it.
