Calling all Canberra citizen scientists and bird lovers! The Aussie Backyard Bird Count is back for another year and no matter which part of Canberra you call home, you can get counting between 18 and 24 October.

You don't need any special equipment or experience to join in, just a spare 20 minutes and access to an outdoor space. You can count in your own yard, a park, a reserve or anywhere birds hang out. For the busy bees, you only need to submit one count but if you have the time, you can do as many counts as you like, so long as each is made up of one 20 minute block.

You can submit your counts via the website or download the app (there's information about how to do that on the website too) and the information you submit helps to understand the birds that live where we do.

This is a project that anyone, no matter how young or old, can get involved with, so get ready to start counting those feathered friends!
