I am a writer living in Adelaide. I love food and travel.

For lovers of bak kut teh
My recent trip to Melbourne was filled with an abundance of mouth-watering foods. However I reckon the bak kut teh at Aunty Franklee ranked number one.

Bak kut teh is literally translated meat bone tea. It is a pork rib broth dish commonly served in Malaysia. It is cooked, for hours, in a variety of herbs and spices.

Aunty Franklee's bak kut teh traces back three generations and is the much-loved signature dish. It is described as being robust, hearty and nourishing. It is served with multigrain rice and tea egg.

Aunty Franklee is located on Russell Street in a heritage-listed building within the Chinatown precinct of Melbourne city. Its opening hours are from 11.30am to 4am (yes that's 4am) seven days a week.

How I wish there is a branch here in my hometown of Adelaide. But, until then, it just gives me another reason to visit Melbourne more often.
