Held at the Royal Exhibition Building, from August 13-17th, the fair exhibits paintings, sculpture, photography, installation and multi media art works of over 300 artists represented by over 70 leading national and international galleries. 3. Melbourne Writers Festival This 11-day festival features over 350 international and local writers, thinkers, illustrators and performers. The progam of events includes panel discussions, film screenings, workshops, debates, launches, performances, professional development sessions, dedicated children's sessions, and more. Melbourne Writers Festival is held at various locations across Melbourne, from August 21-31st. Free and ticketed events.
Melbourne turns 179 years young on August 30th. 5. Italian Masterpieces Italian Masterpieces from Spain's Royal Court, Museo del Prado, presents a selection of paintings and drawings spanning 300 years of Italian art, from the early sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries. This Melbourne exclusive exhibition showcases over 100 works comprising 70 paintings and more than 30 drawings, featuring some of the most outstanding works from masters such as Raphael, Titian and Tiepolo.
