Is this the best Italian restaurant in Southeast Queensland?
Augello's on the beautiful Mooloolaba Esplanade has been voted the best pizza in the globe. I am so ecstatically pleased to say that it absolutely lives up to this spectacular reputation.
My family and I have dined at Augello's on many occasions and, when we were there this Sunday, I thought it is well passed time I give them a few accolades of my own. Its by no means the fanciest restaurant on Mooloolaba but what it does have is a hell of a lot of authenticity, charm and good old fashioned service. From the moment you are seated you feel welcome. The real joy is most certainly if you manage to get served by the owner who is the most delightful Italian gentleman you'll ever meet.
Augello's offers a wide range of Italian cuisine ranging from pasta, risotto and gorgeous local seafood. Really you are doing yourself a disservice though if you don't try their multi-award winning pizzas. Any flavour you feel like, I'm pretty sure I've tried at least 6 different flavours to date and there is no such thing as a bad one! This time my partner and I shared their special for the evening, Jungle Curry Pizza which consisted of eye fillet, peppers, wild ginger, peppercorns, green beans, bamboo shoots, coriander, lime & coconut aioli. I hope they add it to the regular menu because we both agreed it was the tastiest and most inspired pizza we had ever tried.
Augello's also boasts a reasonable and varied drinks menu as well as a multitude of options for catering and larger gatherings. Takeaway is also available but with such good service and such a spectacular location I highly recommend taking the time to eat in.
