Have you ever thought about auditioning for a play? Well, look no further the Old Mill Theatre in South Perth has plenty of parts available for its upcoming production of Design for Living by Nol Coward.

So, you probably want to know what the story's about first, right? Deep breath it's a wickedly witty dark romantic comedy that was initially banned in the UK. The provocative play portrays three amoral, glib and stylish characters and their hopelessly inescapable, if also unconventional, emotional entanglement.

From 1930s bohemian Paris to the dizzying heights of Manhattan society, a tempestuous love triangle unravels between vivacious interior designer Gilda, playwright Leo and artist Otto three people unashamedly and passionately in love with each other. It's a lively, funny but also atypical that play looks at dazzling, egotistical creatures and their self-destructive dependence on each other.

Okay, what else do you need to know? Ah, the playwright! Nol Coward (purists insist you put two dots over the e) is a legendary English raconteur, master of wit and flamboyance, songwriter, singer, actor and playwright extraordinaire to boot. He published more than 50 plays, composed hundreds of songs and numerous musical theatre pieces and wrote an abundance of screenplays, short stories and poetry as well as a three-volume autobiography and the novel Pomp and Circumstance. He was knighted in 1970, three years before his death.
