Australia is a beautiful country with many places to explore in your own backyard.

A hidden gem in Adelaide Hills

Located on Adelaide Road in Mt Barker is the historic Auchendarroch House. This beautiful and majestic house is surrounded by large gardens with lush green lawns, trees and plants.

The main attraction is the Auchendarroch House Rose Garden. The rose garden, though established for many years, was officially opened in November 2022 by the president of the World Federation of Rose Societies. A plaque commemorates the opening.

There are many varieties of stunning roses like the French Delbard roses and David Austin's roses.

A rose that caught my eye is the Mary MacKillop Rose, a light pink fragrant rose, in memory of South Australia's first saint. Then there is Sir Donald Bradman's rose, remembering an Australian sporting icon. Other roses are the Leonardo Da Vinci rose, the Fairy rose and the Gold Bunny rose.

A beautiful arch with the Cinderella climbing rose leads a to beautiful sculpture. Nestled among the roses are stylish bronze sculptures and also a sundial.

The Auchendarroch House Garden is open for visitors to enjoy free of charge. More information can be obtained on their website.
