Bonjour! You may be a keen Francophile but is 'good day' the extent of your French language skills? Would you like a few pointers from the experts at Alliance Francaise? And while you're at it, perhaps catch a cabaret, watch a play, listen to some great music or enjoy delicious French gourmet treats in the beautiful Clare Valley?
If you head to the delightful township of Auburn on the weekend of 10-12 September, you can enjoy the very first , with music, theatre, markets, feasts and those free language tips.
The Fest will kick off on Friday night at beautiful Hillsview Estate with an Opening Night Rendezvous, featuring bubbles, canapes and music from jazz maestros Les Gitans Blancs. Both Saturday and Sunday mornings will start with free attractions, a market in the old Auburn Institute, and some outstanding art and photography exhibitions, plus performances and workshops from Circobats.
But if you'd like to participate a little more, why not try crêpe making, ensemble singing, those French lessons (including the essential how-to swear in French!) or a game of petanque?
Then, perhaps some theatre - the world premiere of the play 'Of Auburn', telling tales of women in WW1 in poetry and song, featuring the work of Auburn's own CJ Dennis, or 500 years of French theatre.
And that's not all of it - there's puppet shows, workshops, wine & cheese trail, author and artist chats, music performances from the ever-popular Louise Blackwell and The French Set, Les Gitans Blanc and Les Flâneurs Volants, singalongs and a classical concert.
And if you're coming from Clare way and don't fancy driving, there's even a daily shuttle bus to get you there and back. This promises to be an amazing weekend packed with
divertissements Francais for young and old!
