Inching out never felt so good. Here is one which will adhere to your 50 kms limit for the time being. It is in D'Aguilar National Park and is approximately 30 kms from Brisbane.
As you are driving from Brisbane towards Mount Nebo, you will see a sign for Manorina. There is parking there. You are then given a choice of several walks, but the one I will be showing you here today is a small circuit called Atrax, which is compact, varied and great for families and people who might need to take it a little more easily.
The path is gentle and has no major steep uphills or downhills. The vegetation, however, changes from low growing ferns and shrubs to palms and some of whom are losing their old and dried leaves following the recent drought.
The bigger eucalypts and rainforest trees are always such a treat to look at as they stretch straight into the depths of the sky. The canopy lets in the beautiful light and occasionally the image of a bird flying by or perched on one of the branches.
It is a breath of fresh air and one that we can all benefit from. At the same time, it is remote enough to ensure that you won't be encountering too many people on it and is a pleasant day trip for all the family.
