I recently spent a relaxing night in
Queenscliffe and was fortunate to have been invited to dinner at
Athelstane House. Well what a treat that was.
We were a party of four. As a result of our selection from the menu we enjoyed laksa, fish, a succulent steak and scallops with salad. All very much recommended. The menu is broad enough to have something for everyone and exudes a love for the preparation and serving of food.
Athelstane House is one of the many historical buildings in
Queenscliffe and is a fully operational small hotel, dining and function location. They pride themselves on fine wine and dining and we were not disappointed. The dining room has a wonderful, classy and refreshing seaside feel and the waiting service was perfect.
Athelstane House is 90 minutes drive from Melbourne via Geelong, or take the new freeway to Sorrento and take the ferry. They have nine hotel rooms, an apartment and a cottage. Breakfast and dinner is served everyday and lunch on weekends. Functions can be discussed with the owners of
Athelstane House by appointment.
You'll find
Athelstane House on Hobson Street which intersects with the main street in
Queenscliffe. Queenscliffe has a wonderful atmosphere and you'll find it an enjoyable walk from wherever you are staying to
Athelstane House. After such an enjoyable evening of food and wine we very much welcomed the opportunity to take a short walk home.
Athelstane House manages a very comprehensive website
here and show consistent attention and welcome to all of their guests.
A great dining choice if in
Queenscliffe and whilst our visit was for dinner I understand weekend lunch is a great option.
