Suara Indonesian Dance Group
Suara Indonesian Dance Group presents a mix of dance, body percussion and song which is unlike any other performance group in Australia.
It is virtually a mixture of traditional and contemporary influences from their Indonesian heritage and also their Australian upbringing. Suara Indonesia Dance Group brings great movement, originality and a very enthralling performance to the stage each time they perform.
The artistic director Alfira O'Sullivan and choreographer Murtala make sure that they preserve traditional and folkloric dances. They also ensure that they create networks as well as inventing new works based on traditional movements.
This is a dynamic duo whose traditional training has inspired the group of dancers to acknowledge the past as a way to "comprehend and contribute to the present and future art form of dance."
