Food and words.

Assaggio are already very well known for their award winning restaurant in Hyde Park, Assaggio Ristorante, and the Assaggio Cafe in Campbelltown. Now you can enjoy Assaggio at home too, with their new gourmet food store in the Central Market.

The slick and shiny store looks a bit out of place amongst the wholesome vegetable stores that it's joining in the markets. There's a lot of white, and there's an almost clinical feel; the desserts that resemble chemistry experiments don't really help. Saying this, there's something fun about the store and it's candy coloured treats.

Desserts are the first thing to catch your eye. There's a large cabinet with row upon row of different dessert. There are bottles of different sauces, small shot glasses of jelly, and spheres of chocolate buttons. You buy something to pull your own dessert together at home, or you can just pick them up ready made in store.

An interesting one to keep an eye out for is the Hard Egg to Follow. It's a strange little sphere with a custard like filling, orange coloured chocolate, and little gold cachous. The whole thing resembles a large cracked egg, but it tastes more than delicious.

It's not all about the sweet stuff, and you'll be able to find other things like pasta sauces, dressings, oils, dips, and ready made meals.

All of the products are made by Assaggio, they don't just buy products in and stick their label on them. So if you're a fan of the food served at the restaurant or cafe, shopping here might help you recreate it at home.

So next time you're in the Central Market keep an eye out for the bright white stall, it's a bit hard to miss, and see if Assaggio have something to tempt you.

Cool find Tash. You're right - it fits in like a hippo in a herb garden lol.
Def seems worth a look though.
