I love traditional Italian restaurants and this is one of the best I've been to. No fuss and frills, just good service, good food, reasonable prices and a nice ambiance.
It's a 5 minute walk from Carbrini Hospital, so if you are visiting there, as we were, it makes a nice change from hospital food. (Although I have to say that the food in the Cabrini cafeteria was pretty nice).
My son ordered a Capricciosa pizza cooked in the impressive wood fired pizza oven that takes pride of place in the front room. He pronounced it delicious. We had eaten our dinner so opted for dessert. My husband had Tirimusi and I had beautiful marinated berries with a home made ice cream. We all had coffee which was how I like it, very hot and strong. Looking at the menu online, next time I'm going to try the Cavatelli al Pesto Ligure - Fresh Pesto made of Pine nuts, Cream, Garlic, Basil and Italian Parmesan Cheese. The Ravioli Alla Casareccia - Ricotta, Spinach, Lemon Cream & Italian Herbs doesn't sound bad either.
The menu isn't vast but it's a case of quality over quantity. A good choice of restaurant for when you are in that neck of the woods and want something that's good value for money and quick on the table.
Located in the heart of Malvern, only 400m far from the train station, on the Frankston line.
The tram lines 5 and 16 stop just outside the restaurant.
Free parking available all around the streets.
