We all know adequate sleep is important, right? Studies have been around for decades that show not getting enough sleep can disrupt your metabolism, causing you to gain weight, and adding to your risk of becoming diabetic. Studies have shown that, no, you can not "payback' your sleep deficit by getting some extra sleep on the weekends. Your health doesn't work like that. Sleeping in doesn't help !

It's all very well to be told, "get more sleep'. What if, try as you might, you just can't switch off that active brain of yours at the end of the busy day and fall peacefully to sleep?

As someone who has struggled with this exact issue for decades, I want to share something I've found that helps me to disconnect my thoughts from the hectic world we inhabit and drift off to sleep without even thinking about it. No more telling yourself "just stop thinking!" "Go to sleep!" Simply lie down, turn out the lights, close your eyes and listen...

Listen to your choice of any of thousands of Relaxing and ASMR recordings on YouTube . I am serious! Give it a go! There is something there for any taste, any preference, any mood. Sometimes I'm in the mood to listen to a lovely Thunderstorm ! (Usually in summer!) Or to a Blizzard ! Here I've given you just a couple of my favourites. Some people like gentler nature sounds like Brooks and Birds for instance. You can search YouTube for whatever appeals to you.

Recordings come in any length you might want, from minutes to hours long. If you like a recording that is very long (say 10 hours) but you would like it to stop after a shorter time (say one hour), I simply fast forward till there is just the length of time I want left on the recording.

Ah, but, what is this ASMR that I mention above? Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) is an audio and sometimes video recording that makes you feel tingles! Relaxing, comfortable tingles, that probably start in your scalp and may spread through your body. It's oddly relaxing. Often recordings involve whispered voices, whispered role-play, and often crinkling or light tapping sounds. You can find any theme and any sound you fancy; there really are many thousands of recordings. You will probably find a few ASMR recording artists that you especially like and return to them over and over. I'll share a few of my favourites here, but you should search for ones that particularly suit you.

Some of my favourite ASMR artists are feather Heather Feather, who does some fun role-play recordings, with some of my favourites being Brushing for Relaxation , as well as Shaving and Scalp Massage , and Sci-fi Suit Repair !

Prim ASMR does some softly spoken role-play as well. Try Writing and Measuring Sounds.
Latte ASMR takes her to role-play very seriously too! Check out Healing Pamper Night .

There are also many male voices in ASMR. You might like ASMR Zeitgeist with steamy and slushy sounds.

Or give some relaxing piano tinkling and soft speaking a go with [LINK=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDzf0CUlw5w]Kiwiwhispers ASMR.

[/LINK] Search for Tapping Sounds or any other sound you find tingly or relaxing!

Whatever your particular predilection, you are bound to find ASMR recording artists providing fodder for your ears. Get a bit creative with your YouTube search. If you want to be lulled to sleep by Reiki healers, or Tarot readers, or almost anything you could imagine, search and find, and then lay back and relax your way to a calm mind and peaceful sleep.
