Feel like a low-cost yet stylish night out with your mates? Or maybe a less pricey midday snack & mixer? Then the place you're looking for is the Asian Beer Cafe, atop the 3rd level of Melbourne Central this place really is the CBD's "It" spot at the moment.
Asian Beer Cafe's Balcony
I first saw this distinctly different nightspot on a bar hopping night out with some friends after one wouldn't stop yapping about this ABC place she'd become addicted to, and once we'd arrived I got it. This Cafe is truly in a league of its own - my gang and I had a great night out; we drank $15 cocktail jugs (thanks to superbly attentive bar staff), danced and laughed over the balcony area for many enjoyable hours in a refreshingly relaxed and attractive venue which I can't wait to check out for lunch ASAP.
The cafe's all about the details inside - set upon the backdrop of elegant Asian design models it features recycled materials up to 70 years old, bathrooms practically coated in amazing artwork and traditional style decorations and artwork and a very unique 20 metre long line bar.
Asian Beer Cafe's Line Bar
The idea of the Asian Beer Cafe is to combine one place with several very different areas; each with their own ambience; the main area is mostly private dining sections - with a room for every kind of booking whether to hire out for parties, after-work catch ups or even business meetings. Then there's smaller less private drinks tables - for friends on a bar run or maybe even more of a date kinda thing. However the balcony (unless it's totally packed) is really where you want to be at night, boasting a DJ booth, surprisingly great views over Swanston St and the State Library, and most importantly a friendly crowd.
Specials, events and mates rates run all week long at ABC too, with daily bar promos, late night only menus and 2 for 1 cocktail nights. Daily specials include 3 for $12 tapas and $5 pizzas every day (11am-3pm & 7-11pm) and $12 burgers and fries from 11am-11pm just to name a few. There's even $2 sparkling for the ladies from 5pm on Thursdays.
In conclusion, once you've experienced their lunchtime menu, cheap jug nights, and most importantly the atmosphere of the Asian Beer Cafe you won't wonder why it's rapidly becoming a No. 1 night and day spot for Uni kids and urban pros from all around Melbourne.
Set around the centre of the city; with Strike Bowling, Hoyts Cinemas and when you're heading home after, Melb Central Train Station is just a short elevator ride away.
