The annual Ashburton Festival is taking place again over at High Street in the heart of the Ashburton Village and as usual, it promises to be a day of family-friendly fun filled with gourmet food and fun-filled activities.





The Ashburton Festival is known for encouraging performances from local schools and residents wishing to display their talent on stage. This year, they are taking this one step further by having the community enter themselves in 'Ashburton Idol'. If you wish to participate, make sure you fill in an entry form and email it as soon as possible to [email protected] . Auditions will take place on the day at Marquis St from 12.30-2.30pm and the finalist will perform at approximately 4pm on the Main Stage at the Festival. Whether you can sing or NOT, why not have a go because you can get a chance to win $700 in cold hard cash!



Apart from the competition and other stage performances, there is plenty to see and do. The festival includes emerging creative groups that exhibit their creations at the many market stalls for those shoppers out there, and if you get peckish there are plenty of food stalls to help with those hunger pains.

For all the parents out there this is a great place to take the kids as there is plenty for them to do on the day, including unlimited ride wristbands, face painting and a petting zoo, this promises to be a great way to spend your Sunday afternoon.

Sunday the 26th of February between 12noon to 7pm at High Street Shopping Centre, between Johnston St and Carool Rd, Ashburton
