Artwalk Freo returns on the weekend of Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May 2017.
This FREE biennial event is presented by the Artwalk Freo artist collective, a respected group of Fremantle arts practitioners who will open their private studios to the public over two fun-filled days.
All are invited to follow the leisurely 4-kilometre trail and visit the exquisitely diverse living studio spaces of emerging, mid-career and established guest artists along the way. Participating in this year's event are Michael Knight, Trevor Richards, Penny Bovell, Ian de Souza, Annette Seeman, John Teschendorff, Eveline Kotai and Jo Darbyshire.
Come and discover the artist's process first-hand in their usually access-restricted studios spaces, where all their inspiration, sketches, thoughts and ideas merge to become something wonderful.
There will be a handpicked selection of work on display and for sale at each studio - peruse an eclectic showcase of textiles, sculptures, drawings, paintings, printmaking, ceramics, meticulously woven textured abstracts and much more. The collection of artwork is sure to inspire and intrigue and the artists will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
The trail takes around 1-hour to complete and you are welcome to stroll or cycle your way through the local streetscape. If public transport is your preference, please click here. Cars are welcome, but less fun.
Each studio space will be open to the public from 10am and 4pm for the Artwalk Freo weekend only.
Each artist will have their own payment options, including receipted cash, credit card, direct deposit and lay-by. Refreshments and other treats will also be available for sale, courtesy of community groups.
Artwalk Freo is proudly supported by City of Fremantle, local businesses and the artist collective.
