Arts Project Australia's successful launch of its new gallery space at Level 1, Collingwood Yards, 35 Johnston St (Perry St entrance), Collingwood is getting a good work out with its upcoming 4 X 4 Artist Solos from 15 May 12pm to 6pm 27 June 2021. The Opening will be on Saturday 15 May from 2-4pm. This next exhibition presents four different solos featuring Monica Lazzari, Rebecca Scibilia, James MacSporran and Samraing Chea. They each might hold distinctive practices, but their work collectively reflects the versatility of colour, imagination, narrative and pattern to speak on the energies of society and nuances of everyday life.
Monica Lazzari creates complex abstract paintings and collage that resonate with energy.
Rebecca Scibilia is a mid-career painter who utilises a variety of media on paper and canvas, inspired by pop culture.
James MacSporran is an emerging artist working primarily in painting and drawing, embodying a blend of abstraction and graffiti.
Samraing Chea is an emerging artist whose practice contains humorous and startling social commentary, with an uncanny ability to extract the irony and idiosyncrasies of his subject.
