Arts and Hearts fair - you'll love it
Students have created their Heart Art which will be on display at the fair
Put this event on your calendar! St Ambrose's Primary School is holding it's annual fundraiser on Saturday, May 31st. The Arts and Hearts Fair will be held between 11am and 7pm and will be the school's first major arts fair. The theme (Arts and Hearts) will be showcasing the unique Integrated Arts Program, the school's connection to community and their expression of "Habits of the Heart". For those who are unaware, the Habits of the Heart are: Love, Generosity, Perseverance, Remembering, Tolerance and Hope.
The school garden was a riot of colour as the creative juices flowed
Of the Integrated Arts Program, Donna Gray (Art Teacher at the school) said, "Students from Prep through to Year 7 come to the Centre to engage with all five of the Arts strands: Dance, Drama, Music, Media Arts and Visual Arts. The Arts are an integral part of the culture of our school life. The power and presence of this Key Learning Area make it an ideal vehicle for expression outside the norm. The ethos of our school is captured and celebrated through the Arts; for it offers our students a chance to explore and reflect on themselves, their school community and their part in the world."
Aside from the Arts, there's plenty of other activity planned for the day. All the usual favourites will be in full swing: market stalls, rides, baby animals, face painting, rock wall climbing, a jumping castle and show bags. There'll also be a science show, auctions, a cake stall, coffee stall, raffles, delicious food and cold drinks, free activities and more!
A bar will be open from 1pm - 7pm for those who work up a thirst and in the evening there will be a visual presentation of 'Art in Action' at St Ambrose's followed by a children's film on the Big Screen, Live Auctions, Music, food and drinks.
The fair is a real team effort with sponsors from the local community, parent and student involvement and teachers manning an information booth on the day. The students will also be creating their own Heart artwork in the lead-up to the fair and their results will be displayed on the day. Sponsors for the event include: Newmarket Hotel, Holmes Stubbings Accountants, Meat@Billys, BZARRE, Epson, and Party Artworks.
As School Principal,Sue Branson says, "Teamwork makes the dream work!"
