The Artotel Beach Club, better known as the ABC, has something for everyone. At its heart, it's a beach club but it has so much more of a community and friendly feel.

With its prime position towards the north of Sanur, it has access from both the beach and Jalan Danau Temblingan. If you enter from the main road then to the left you'll find plenty of parking for both cars and mopeds. If you take a drop off service then they are allowed right up to the front of the building. Here, there's a reception area with a small shop and security check-point. They do have a very strict no food or drink policy so may check your bags. Normally we enter then do a U-turn past the facilities straight to the open grass area. Just to quickly mention, these facilities are really well kept and if you need lockers you simply need to pay a deposit of 50,000 IDR at reception for a key.

Back to the big open space, you'll find a fantastic treehouse adventure area. There are plenty of balance beams, a swing set and lots to climb and explore. This is also the area for the bi-monthly Sunday market and other special events like the Bali Bubblegum Book Club (for children's books). I have written features on both of these if you'd like more details.

Back at the reception area; continuing passed it is the swimming pool. Two in fact, as it's a large multilevel pool. The top section has a swim-up bar but is also an adults-only area. The main lower pool has a very shallow section, around half a metre, which gradually lowers. And to top it off, they even have lifeguards on duty.

From the pool, you can see the beach path that Sanur is famous for. And stepping over this leads to the beach section of the venue. There are plenty of large comfy day beds or plump sofa's to relax on. Look around and you'll normally find some children's toys like large building blocks, buckets and spades.

And finally, the main building even has an upstairs section if you fancy a covered spot.

The food menu is good here. They have a 'build your own breakfast' which means there's normally something for everyone. Plus there are plenty of special offers and happy hours. And, of course, a range of kids options, lunch, dinner, drinks and snack's to keep all dietary requirements happy. The price is what you would expect for a beach club. Say around 100,000 IDR and above for a main meal and a beer for 50,000 IDR.

For me, this place is for everyone. Couples, holidaymakers or Instagram posters will love the laid back feel, the impressive layout, backdrop and DJ induced vibe. Families will love the shallow pool and large grass park area. And finally, the community love all the events they hold. They run art classes, book clubs, fitness sessions and a bi-monthly Sunday market to name just a few. I've even attended a stunning wedding here so do consider it if you're thinking of a Bali venue.

Just to mention, there's a minimum spend amount for staying in different areas, which increases slightly at the weekend. It's always best to check first but the staff are really friendly and normally let you know beforehand so that you don't get caught out. Also, in my opinion, the minimum spend isn't high. If I go for a swim with my toddler and play in the treehouse area, by the time I have bought a drink for us both and a kids meal, it more than covers sitting in the pool area. And is worth it for the amount of time we spend there.

If you visit the ABC then let me know what you think – or perhaps you have another favourite spot?
