An Arts Festival Celebrating Regional Artists

Australia is a diverse country full of amazing people and lifestyles. I was privileged to attend the launch of Artlands Dubbo 2016 "Part Conference, Part Festival, All Arts." Early bird tickets are now available for this regional arts festival for all who work in the arts fields and anyone interested in the arts.

Dubbo will showcase everything from food, to music, to theatre, as well as works from regional Australian artists. Highlighting works from a diverse range of creative people, this four day event will also feature national and international speakers, forums, workshops and discussions around the key themes of "Regeneration, Connectedness and Emergence".

Artlands 2016 Festival will feature works rarely seen together in regional NSW. Again, a diverse program is promised with musicians Heath Cullen, Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen, Dave Mason and Brendan Gallagher, and Radical Son. Also to be enjoyed is a regional NSW Aboriginal artists exhibition, Old Land New Marks, and regional physical theatre companies, fLing and Lingua Franca will perform their latest works.

Associate Professor Mark McMillan from Melbourne Law School, Director of Arts for Health at Manchester Metropolitan University Clive Parkinson, and Chief Executive of New Arts Exchange in Nottingham Skinder Hundal were announced as some of the keynote speakers for the conference part of this biennial event.

NSW's thriving regional arts and culture will be showcased for a national audience to appreciate over this four day arts spectacular. Deputy Premier and Minister for the Arts Troy Grant said the NSW Government is proud to be supporting Artlands.

"Our Government has provided funding support from its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, and $250,000 from Arts NSW,' Mr Grant said. 'This is in addition to more than $400,000 funding from the Federal Government."

Artlands Dubbo will be the definitive destination this October for artists throughout Australia. Registrations are now open.
