Montmorency is a leafy suburb in Melbourne's north-east with the
Montmorency Shopping Village , located on Were Street, comprising the suburb's shopping strip.
Were Street in Montmorency, or Monty as it is referred to by the locals, is a quaint village offering an array of cafes, bakeries, restaurants, beauty and hair salons, and is located just up from the Montmorency train station.
The Montmorency Traders Association have brought together the work of over 35 local artists for the popular
Artists on Were St .
Artists on Were St show cases the talented work of local artists. Work is submitted as a competition entry and displayed in store fronts of the various shops in Were St.
Entrants are asked to theme their work around 'A Moment in Monty' and the selected art is featured on the local Montmorency wine series.
Feature artists for 2015 include artist Mel Macklin with
Caucus cheese, Syd Tunn and Boro Couwe.
Artists on Were St commences at 10am on Saturday 15 August 2015 at the park in Were Street. The official launch of the event will announce the competition winner.
Other activities planned include artists painting in the street, basket weaving, jewellery making, pavement art on the street, a wall mural, live music and demonstrations.
Come along between 15 August and 6 September to the Monty village Artists on Were St, enjoy a coffee, brunch or lunch then explore the local art produced by this creative community.
Additional parking will be available on Saturday 15 August at the Montmorency Primary School.
