This is what most people remember of the lift that was originally constructed in 1960.

It was exciting because of the amazing views you saw as you ascended, but it was also exciting because it was more than a little scary.

It's been closed since 2006 but finally work began to reopen it in 2015 and we're now close to the grand opening. This will be another must do tourist activity when you visit beautiful Arthur's Seat.

The grand opening date has been set as Saturday, 3rd December which is just in time for the summer holidays. Young and old are bound to enjoy this though.

The first of the new gondolas has been unveiled and it looks nothing like the originals.

They have included a café in the redesign so you can dine and enjoy the stunning scenery at the same time.

Once opened The Eagle will run 364 days a year (closed Christmas Day) and it will run to a summer or winter timetable.

• Summer Season runs early December to 31st March from 10am – 8pm with the last gondola departing at 7.30pm
• Winter Season runs from the 1st of April until the 31st October 10am – 5pm with the last gondola departing at 4.30pm

Please check their social media sites as they may close if extreme weather is predicted.
