Arthur Davis park, located off Flinders Parade in Sandgate, is a scenic park and playground on the edge of Sandgate Beach in Brisbane's north. The children's playground has lots of climbing, swinging and sliding equipment for a fun filled outdoor adventure. A play boat, spring riders, play surfboard, two swings (one toddler) are great additions.
The park has a series of barbeques, picnic tables and covered shelters for those who want to stay a bit longer and enjoy an outdoor meal.
The Sandgate Swimming Pool rests beside the park and is perfect for a swim on a hot day. The complex has an an outdoor 50m swimming pool, an indoor heated pool used primarily for swimming lessons and an outdoor wading pool. The outdoor wading pool has four waterslides suitable for differing ages plus a tiny mini slide for babies. Was that a Lockness monster structure in the water for the kids to climb on and mushroom fountains to run under?
My favourite part of Arthur Davis Park however is that it is the entrance to the Sandgate boardwalk which offers a beautiful and easy walking path along Sandgate beach-perfect for jogging, pushing strollers and of course walking pooch. On the day of my visit, 2 racehorses were trotting along the beach at low tide. Such an unexpected treat.
