Artcaffe might be to Kenya what Starbucks is to America - one of the go-to franchises that has great coffee, pastries, snacks and meals, with numerous locations scattered across the country.



Today, we went to the one in Garden City mall, on Thika Road. Having been to various other branches several times in the past, I'm usually sure about what I want to order before I walk through the cafe doors and my decisions seldom change.

I was craving something hearty today, so I went with the Zucchini and parmesan soup.



The soup was served with warm, buttery ciabatta bread and my diet will just have to wait - because fresh buttery bread!

My little cousin had the chicken fingers with chips and although there was nothing finger-like about the chicken, it was actually very tender and tasty.



My other cousin ordered one of my favourite dishes and an Artcaffe staple: the Art Pesto with chicken.



What I love most about this dish is the generosity with which the pesto is distributed throughout the pasta. Every bite is a delicious burst of basil, garlic and nuttiness. Yum!
