Do you need a creative outlet? Is one of your goals to be a good at drawing or painting?
I have been taking art classes for several years and seen dramatic changes in my confidence and skill level. During that time, I have been taught by various artists in Brisbane and online. The classes I have enjoyed the most were with local artist and qualified teacher Shannon Gibbs.
I have learnt to use pencil, charcoal, acrylic paint and watercolour paint and pencils. It's hard to learn oil painting in a two-hour time frame as the paint needs time to dry.
I am always amazed that each person has a different interpretation of the lesson and the finished artworks vary considerably. Art is subjective, but I have found that different people shine at different lessons.
If you would like to learn drawing I suggest buying a small sketchbook, HB pencil and eraser. Then attempt to draw one image every day. You may like to share them on your Instagram account with the hashtag #artoftheday.
Shannon has recommended the following books to the group: "The Creative Habit", "Drawing on the Left Side of the Brain" and "The Artist's Way". My personal favourite is "Brave Intuitive Painting" by Flora Bowley.
Shannon Gibbs offers art classes for children and adults under the business name Artbox.
