Hawthorn Arts Centre is holding a series of evening introductory workshops this spring. As all materials are supplied, participants will have the opportunity to try out a new art or craft without having to make a big financial outlay. The diverse range of workshops means there will be something to appeal to most people with an interest in art or crafts.
Botanical watercolour workshop
Join artist Lisa Gribbin, who will introduce you to the intricate world of botanical illustration and watercolour. Lisa will take you through a series of simple steps, to help you create your own botanical masterpiece.
This workshop is suitable for all, from budding to more experienced artists.
The botanical watercolour workshop takes place at
6.30 - 8.30pm on Tuesday 16 August.
Textured-brooch making workshop
Ceramicist Madeleine Thornton-Smith will guide participants through the process of creating beautiful wearable art. Taking inspiration from local buildings and objects, participants will make textured brooches out of clay. Pieces will be fired and glazed after the workshop,
and available for participants to collect at a later date.
This workshop will take place at
6.30 - 8.30pm on Tuesday 20 September 2022.
Macramé for beginners
While some may see macramé as a retro craft, it has made a comeback in recent years. The craft is versatile enough to be used to make anything from wall hangers to purses and clothing.
By the end of the session, participants will have a piece of macramé artwork to hang in their home.
The macramé workshop will take place from
6.30 - 8.30pm on Tuesday 18 October.

Get a bowl of delicious dumplings that are kilojoule free and a delight to look at! Artist and maker Sai-Wai Foo will teach participants hand sewing and finishing techniques with simple craft supplies to help you make your own bowl of textile wontons, gyoza or sui mai.
