If you don't want to traipse into the city or pay for parking to see quality art exhibitions, then at Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre is for you.



From humble beginnings in 2015, committed art lovers began work on their dream of creating a Community Gallery in the western suburbs of Brisbane. Their first exhibition was held in 2016. Membership and the standard of artworks grew with regular exhibitions and an annual Art West major Art Prize.& #8203 ;

Art West now has a gallery next to Big W in the Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre where exhibitions are changed every 8 weeks. The gallery is a large open space that displays 150 unique artworks from local artists. They're open 7 days which means you can grab a takeaway coffee and browse the ever-changing and stunning artworks on display.



Works range from tiny to gigantic to fit any space in your home. A wide range of media is used including oils, acrylic, watercolour, ink, linocuts, pastel, metal, timber, glass, clay, and many more. Some artists have exhibited overseas and in Australia, with some works in private collections. The exhibit includes landscapes, streetscapes, seascapes, portraits, abstracts and flowers to name a few. There is also a featured artist within every exhibition.



The artworks are all available for sale and from what I have seen, pieces regularly find a new home. So don't hesitate if an artwork grabs your attention as it may not be there next time you visit. And that's the beauty of this gallery. With regularly changing exhibitions, you can visit frequently and get your art fix while you're at the shops. How easy is that?



There are paintings and sketches, sculptures and hand made items. There is even a section of artwork suitable for the outdoors. With over 150 2D and 3D artworks there is something for everyone and especially for that someone who has everything.
