Interact with artists around the Chapel St precinct
Celebrated Melbourne art event ART-Town makes a return in 2016 for its seventh year. A unique live-art making experience, ART-Town 2016 sees artists working in public spaces of
the Chapel Street Precinct from 11.00am to 3.00pm over two weekends, 2nd–3rd April and 9th–10th April.

Find artists at work in and around Chapel Street Windsor, Prahran, and South Yarra, Greville Village and Grattan Gardens, Chapel Street North, and in selected retailers and galleries throughout the precinct.

Participating retailers include: Prahran Market, Art Boy Gallery, Fezilla Gallery, Signed and Numbered, and Ladro.

All types of artists - painters, illustrators, photographers, street artists, sculptors - are eligible to participate in ART-Town.

One of the featured artists is regional Victorian printmaker Tarli Bird with Stitch Your Own Adventure. At this installation, guests hand sew where they have come from and will go during the day on hand-printed, interactive sewing maps that come with a threaded sewing needle. Tarli's large-scale painted geometric maps of Prahran, Windsor and South Yarra will be created on site at the Salvos Windsor store over the two weekends.

Other confirmed artists for 2016 include Melbourne urban projection artist Drasko Boljevic, and Melbourne-based portrait and landscape artist Demian Carey-Gibbins as well as the Melbourne Urban Sketchers, a global group of artists who meet up to sketch, draw and paint en-masse in urban locations throughout the world.

"I thoroughly enjoyed painting on Chapel Street and engaging with locals. Allowing people to engage directly with artists makes art accessible to all, only good things can happen from here!" said Demian Carey-Gibbins.
