On Saturday 10th of September 2016, Art Song Perth is proudly presenting a special concert celebrating the works of Spain's most beloved composers.
Founded in 1990 as the Lieder Society of Western Australia, Art Song Perth aims to enhance the musical life of Western Australia through the performance and promotion of art song.
Held at the Church of the Resurrection in Swanbourne from 7.30pm, the diverse 'Espana!' programme features the works of Manuel de Falla, Fernando Obradors, Joaquin Turina, Montsalvatge and Piazzola songs with accordion accompaniment from Cathie Travers.
From the haunting evocative sounds of lost love, to seductive, luscious lullabies and the excitement of Spain's infectious dance rhythms, this concert is sure to be a unique and engaging experience for all ages.
The programme was compiled by Art Song Perth Artistic Director Marilyn Phillips. Performing on the night are soprano Naomi Johns, mezzo-soprano Monique-Simone, bass-baritone Paull-Anthony Keightley and tenor Louis Hurley, accompanied by pianist Tommy Seah.
