Teen only event at the National Gallery of Victoria
Finding unique and engaging activities for teenagers can sometimes be a tricky feat. I was super excited to hear about an event coming up by the National Gallery of Victoria that ticks all the boxes for being unique, engaging and very well priced.
On the evening of the 7th of October the National Gallery of Victoria will be transformed into an interactive Art Party for teenagers aged 13-17. The night will include several themed activities scattered throughout the halls of the gallery and is aimed to encourage creativity and inspiration through hands-on workshops in music, fashion and art.
Several exhibitions will be open on the night including The House of Dior: Seventy Years of Haute Couture. This exhibition features over 140 breathtaking handmade couture garments, accessories and shoes. Young fashionistas will be delighted and inspired with a pop up workstation created just for the night and will be able to meet and work with Melbourne fashion illustrator, Nicole Onslow. Nicole will also create custom sketches of teen attendees and demonstrate her fantastic abilities in fashion illustration using the surrounding creations.
Melbourne fashion illustrator, Nicole Onslow will on-site to create custom sketches of teen attendees.
In the Hokusai exhibition, aspiring teen artists will be able to get up close and personal with the famous works by the godfather of Japanese Manga, Katsushika Hokusai. This includes the fantastic opportunity to view the famous Great Wave off Kanagawa (The Great Wave). The pop-up workstation within this exhibit, also specifically created for the night, will allow teens to create detailed frame-by-frame manga animations using ipads.

With all that creation and inspiration going on, one tends to get hungry, so why not enjoy food that is creative and inspiring too. Catering is included in the ticket price and includes an incredible Japanese and French themed menu of sushi, noodles, baguettes and croissants along with exclusive gelato flavours from Pidapipò Gelateria.
Several exhibitions will be open on the night for teens to draw inspiration and creativity with teen guides to help.
