The Art Gallery of Western Australia is a short walk from the Murray Street Mall. Cross over the railway bridge and it's on your right-hand side in the first building. It's the start of a hub of art places in the area. There is a range of restaurants and coffee places in the immediate area.

The Art Gallery of Western Australia has an extensive collection of artwork. It has a clear European focus, although there are some Aboriginal artworks and works that are pertinent to the lifestyle and history of WA.

Architecturally the building makes you feel like you could be in New York or Paris. It is two levels, is extensive and has seats strategically placed. The shop was great with lots of lovely gifts and souvenirs to buy.

It requires a good couple of hours to peruse the art properly and the best thing is it's free. I would highly recommend having a look if art is your thing.
