The Art Gallery of New South Wales has put on a kid's club that enables children to gain a greater appreciation of art through a variety of different means from storytelling to music and events, and hence Gallery Kids is now born.
Every Sunday at 2:30pm makes way for a great Sunday afternoon out with the family; due to the number of family friendly events on as part of this initiative from art to music and storytelling with some key artists and others with authority on the relevant subject at hand also take part. Puppetry performances are also in the calendar, and all events go for half an hour. Further information can be found by clicking here. Additional art performances as part of Gallery Kids are also held on all school holidays.
Gallery Kids also put on some decent workshops to help children of all ages (particularly Art Kids 2012 for those aged 9-12) to help children gain a greater appreciation of art and have fun at the same time. It is great to see art galleries focus on children. Victoria has done the same thing with the NGV Kids Space in Melbourne. Gallery Kids also includes interactive art tours where some focus is placed on animals and the like. A great kid's club and a great way to introduce children to the world of art.
