[ADVERT]The Sunday before Mother's Day is a date to diarise if you want to take the opportunity to market shop for a handmade gift for your mum. Actually, it's a lovely morning out if you want to take your mum with you and let her choose something from a wonderful range of locally produced gift items. There will be demos by various craft groups, including: potters, woodturners, sculptors and weavers. The requirement to stall holders is that the goods for sale are all handmade and locally produced. The live music, cakes, pizza and coffee alongside drinks and the famous Australian sausage sizzle, makes for a very enjoyable morning out.
The market day, organised and hosted by the Gold Coast Potters Association, takes place twice a year - this one the Sunday before Mother's Day and the second at the end of the year, before Christmas. They are excellent opportunities for acquiring unique handcrafted gifts to solve all your shopping requirements, at these key times of year. The ambience in the grounds of Sculptors Corner (corner Ashmore Rd & Carrara St, Ashmore) is very relaxing and takes place in an open air setting under shady trees. It offers lovely things for sale, all made locally by talented people, which makes for a refreshingly different shopping experience.
For more information, visit the Potters website or their facebook page or alternatively give Jo McFaul a call on: 0411 509 634. Parking is available on surrounding streets and in a large car park on the other side of the traffic lights. Entry is free, so go for a browse. Although, you will need some money for purchases, as I doubt very much you would be able to completely resist the items on offer and leave empty handed.
