There are a lot of people who have probably done an art course or two in their life, but have never really used their skills in practical ways.

Listed here are a few art courses in Brisbane which you can take that teach you not only the basics, but how you can use your art skills in everyday life.

Lily-Lee Art Courses are held in a relaxed environment, where you can choose the classes that suit you in a place where creativity is encouraged, along with individuality and heaps of advice is available when you need it. There are several to choose from, including beginner art classes, acrylic painting classes, contemporary art classes, drawing lessons, landscape painting classes, oil painting technique instructions (for beginners), seascape painting classes, watercolour painting classes, and the like. To attend, please visit the website or call 3379 7828.

For something a little more structured, consider attending the Brisbane Institute of Art. As a non-for-profit arts centre, these arts classes are ones that you can learn painting, drawing, sculpture, life drawing, portraiture, landscape and much more. All people, from beginners to advanced, are encourage to attend. For various courses and workshops, please see the website for details. Membership is just $25 for those wishing to join the Brisbane Institute of Art, and various benefits are available, including opportunities to exhibit your own artwork, studio usage outside of hours, and even get discounts at arts organisations and businesses. For more information, please visit the website.

Giselle's Art Classes is another place which specialises in drawing and painting skills. The classes also teach you how to paint abstract and other techniques, both basic and advanced. Special sessions are also held for those who wish to further their skills in specific art types, such as graphite, acrylic and the like. These classes are just $30 and include refreshments. Giselle, who runs the creative art classes, believes that "everyone has a need for creative expression", and encourage attendees to express themselves in their own creative way. You don't need any painting experience, and you only pay for each class you attend. For more information, please see the website.

So for ways to open a creative outlet for your artistic abilities, attend an art course and find out how you can express yourself in your own way.
